‘A Question of Literacy’ PD Workshop
At a recent training forum held in Perth, this Resource and associated PD was showcased in a workshop. Positive feedback from a number of school and DET staff members has led to the LCP pursuing the purchase of this resource for all schools in all our regions and provide the opportunity for them to participate in a workshop to demonstrate how to use it.
Learn how to use a CD- based resource, developed in 2008, to help non-literacy specialist VET trainers better understand literacy issues, learn how to address them more effectively in their training programs and how to help trainees with literacy difficulties.
The workshop will be held at Manea Senior College on Thursday August 6th from 10am – 2.30pm and is free to all school staff.
Participants will:
• Be introduced to the new Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
• Provided with a simplified model of the ASCF to identify the required language, literacy and numeracy levels in Units of Competence and in training materials.
• Participate in cooperative group activities whilst given a guided opportunity to apply the ASCF
• Participate in a discussion about the application and relevance of the framework in their training contexts.
